Why Wax Your Car?

Waxing is not just about making a vehicle look shiny. A quality wax provides an important protective barrier between your vehicle’s paintwork and the harsh conditions it faces every day.

Applying wax to your vehicle offers several benefits:

  • Protects paintwork from humidity, salt, acid rain, bird droppings and industrial dirt.
  • Makes washing easier by preventing dirt and contaminants from bonding strongly to the surface.
  • Helps reduce the risk of paint fading and minor surface scratching from environmental exposure.
  • Enhances gloss, depth, and overall appearance.
  • Saves time, effort, and even water during routine washing.
  • Provides a satisfying and rewarding way to care for your vehicle yourself.

The difference is often noticeable immediately. Not only will your vehicle look better, but it will also be easier to keep that way.

Preparing Your Vehicle Before Waxing

The amount of your preparation directly affects the final result of waxing. Before applying any wax, thoroughly clean and decontaminate the paintwork. This removes bonded contaminants and allows the wax to bond properly to the surface.

For the best results:

  1. Wash the vehicle thoroughly.
  2. Remove contamination using suitable decontamination products.
  3. Ensure the paintwork is completely dry before waxing.

To help achieve the best possible finish, we offer a range of paint preparation products from compounds and cleaners to clay bars and shampoo.

Ideal Waxing Conditions

For optimum results, apply wax:

  • Between 15°C and 25°C.
  • In the shade.
  • On paintwork that is cool to the touch.
  • Away from direct sunlight.

These conditions help ensure even application and proper curing.

Caring For Waxed Paintwork

A few simple habits will help maximise the life of your wax protection.

We recommend:

  • Hand washing whenever possible.
  • Using a pH-neutral shampoo.
  • Removing bird droppings and tree sap as soon as possible.
  • Avoiding aggressive cleaning chemicals.
  • Avoiding automatic car washes.

You can also use our Fukupika Spray Advance Strong Type to nourish and maintain the wax coating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is one coat enough?

Yes. One properly applied coat is sufficient to deliver the intended protection, durability and appearance.

What is the difference between natural, polymer-based and hybrid waxes?

Natural waxes provide deep and rich gloss finish. They are popular among enthusiasts, although they typically last around one month.

Polymer-based waxes (or sealants) focus on long-lasti with less frequent reapplication.

Hybrid waxes combine the benefits of both natural and polymer-based waxes, offering long-lasting protection with impressive gloss and appearance.

Can I apply wax over another wax?

Yes. In fact, many enthusiasts layer products. A common approach is to apply a gloss-focused natural or hybrid wax over a more durable synthetic base layer. The less durable product should generally be applied on top of the more durable product.

How is wax durability measured?

SOFT99 waxes undergo detailed testing in accordance with JISC (Japanese Industrial Standards Committee) procedures to determine maximum durability under controlled conditions.

Do waxes expire?

When stored correctly, waxes can retain their performance characteristics for many years. Typical shelf life is approximately 6–7 years.

How should wax be stored?

To maximise product lifespan:

  • Close the lid tightly after use.
  • Store at room temperature.
  • Keep in a dry environment.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.
